We are back from our staycation at Getaway, and I feel so rejuvenated. When your job requires you to constantly be online, it is so nice to get away and unplug. No wifi, no city noise, just us and nature.
The concept of Getaway is to build balance into modern life. They have escapes from Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburg + Cleaveland, Portland, and DC. We, of course, escaped from Los Angeles to a beautiful city called Running Springs. Nestled in the San Bernadino mountains, Running Springs is about 20 minutes from Lake Arrowhead and 30 minutes from Big Bear.
As soon as we got to our cabin, we fell in love! Every detail is so thought out and practical. The cabin had a kitchen with a stove, faucet, and fridge, a queen-size bed, a shower and toilet, and a little seating area fit for two. Milo was even greeted with a bag of dog treats!
We loved the flow of the cabin and how everything was multifunctional. The cabin had plates that you can put on the stovetop, knives, lighters and scissors that are magnetic and stick to the wall.
Our favorite part was definitely the view. Waking up at sunrise, and cooking dinner at sunset were two of my favorite moments. I also managed to look up from reading my book, just in time to see a buck run by. It was truly one of the most majestic things I have witnessed. Something you never see in the city.
My best advice when visiting Getaway is to pack light and unplug. Go on a nice hike (we walked around Gregory Lake). Drink your coffee in the great outdoors and enjoy the scenery. Talk with your loved ones and just enjoy each other’s company.
I can’t wait for my next staycation at Getaway.
